The weather is getting better here in Gippsland, and many of us love to take advantage of the outdoors while enjoying a sunny breezy day in spring.
Just like when Grandma and I (and of course her little pup Pip), had a spontaneous visit at Morwell Centenary Rose Garden (about a two-hour drive from Melbourne, and only took us a 30-minute drive from Warragul VIC. We enjoyed walking along the roses and admiring the beauty and unique patterns of each bloom because each one is unique to another. The garden is the home of over 4000 roses, with 400 varieties maintained and cared for by many local volunteers and patrons.
Roses love sunny days, and it helps them grow quickly.
When we finally secure our forever home, I am planning to build my own rose garden with my Grandma!
The rose this year blooms gorgeously, compared to the previous two years.

This weekend, the town is celebrating its annual International Rose Garden Festival with lots of exciting workshops, live music, market stalls, food trucks, roving performers, children’s activities, the famous Country Women’s Association scones, and more. The festival commences with a light show at 6.30pm on Friday night (8th November 2024), followed by an 11am start on Saturday (9th November 2024) where locals and visitors alike can explore the rose gardens and stalls, or participate in free activities.
Festival partner, AGL Loy Yang, is presenting the Night Light Installation during the evenings. AGL spokesperson Christo van Niekerk, General Manager AGL Loy Yang, said that the installation is an unmissable event and will transform the garden into a kaleidoscope of color from hundreds of fairy lights, festoons, and LED lights on display.
The night light installation is my favorite!
