One thing about fashion is that it can transform your ideas and vibe to a place you want to be, without actually driving (if you know what I mean).
Preppy style sometimes looks like it came out from the casting of the axed Gossip Girl, but at least be smart-looking like Audrey Hope + Blair Waldorf. Or be in that state of feeling like you are born to go to Ivy-League school with Daddy’s money, either way, sounds costume-y or not, fashion will give you that sense.
Like last night when I was browsing my Farfetch, I saw several pieces from Miu Miu that scream preppy-core, and I realized that I could pull this off without checking out the app and destroying my super.
Hubby’s old, collared polo shirt, paired with my knitted Gray-Nicolls vest I bought from the op shop, and this old miniskirt stepdaughter used to wear.
Hair accessories and knee-high socks are all bought online, including my recent Romance Was Born book that I got from Amazon. They got so many great pieces, and I wish to visit their studio one day, and learn a few sewing tips from the pro! The bag and shoes are from the local Kmart shop.
If this preppy look makes us look like someone born in stealth wealth, then so be it. After all, I’m wearing Gray-Nicolls and that’s a heritage brand founded in 1855 so having this one is a great score!
What do you think of this look?
